Overview

Roji 58 Izakaya offers an inviting slice of Japan right in the heart of Bangkok's Suan Luang district. Nestled on Phatthanakan Road, this cozy izakaya captures the essence of traditional Japanese dining with its warm, lantern-lit atmosphere and nostalgic décor that recalls the charm of a tucked-away alley in Tokyo.

The main attraction here is the carefully prepared selection of grilled yaki dishes. From tender, smoky cuts of meat to a variety of other skewered delights, each plate showcases a balance of flavor and texture that keeps patrons coming back. Complementing the menu is a thoughtful drink list featuring perfectly chilled Asahi beer served in frosted mugs, ideal for washing down the savory bites and enhancing the laid-back vibe.

A cozy izakaya with comforting food. Extra points for the ice-cold Asahi beer—goes down way too easy.

This little izakaya has such a warm, welcoming vibe—it feels like stepping into a cozy alleyway in Japan. The place is lit with colorful lanterns and decorated with nostalgic posters, giving it a fun, laid-back atmosphere. The beer came ice-cold in a frosted mug with a perfect foamy head, and it was just what I needed. I tried the grilled meat, and it was seriously good—tender, juicy, with that smoky char that hits the spot. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, and the staff were super friendly without being overbearing. It’s the kind of spot where you could easily lose track of time over good food and a few drinks.

Amazing izakaya in a neighbourhood where one is used to below standard international food, this place hits the spot. Packed for good reason on a Friday night. They do need to iron out their service flow, but thats understandable when you are new. Still enjoyed the dinner very much. You might as well be in a decent Tokyo izakaya, well done!! Will be back :)
